Pioneer Park Public School has been operating a very unique hockey program that provides equipment, ice-time, and quality instruction to any Pioneer Park student who wishes to participate, at no cost to the family. This program has been in operation since 2002 under the leadership of Head Custodian Mr. Steven Sanderson.

Since the program started, many students have had the opportunity to participate in Canada’s game. Throughout the years, Mr. Sanderson noticed that many students wanted to participate in Panther Hockey but were apprehensive about signing up because they did not know how to skate. As a result, Panther Hockey has added a “Learn to Skate” program. On December 18, 2014, Mr. Steve Cabral, Manager of Small Business and Ms. Cathy Tavener, Executive Assistant to the Regional Vice-President of the RBC came to Pioneer Park to present Mr. Sanderson and Panther Hockey a cheque of $2,500 from the RBC’s “Play” initiative to support our “Learn to Skate” program.

Pioneer Park would like to extend their gratitude to the RBC for their their continuing support of  hockey programs.
