Home Building Program
The OYAP Home Building Program allows students to build a house from foundation to completion!
How does it work?
The Home Building Program is available to grade 11 and 12 students that are registered full-time at the Waterloo Region District School Board. Students must be 16 years of age when starting the program. While it is preferred that students have prior experience in a technological education program, it is not required to apply.
The Home Building Program is offered during both first and second semester. It is organized through Jacob Hespeler Secondary School in Cambridge and Elmira District Secondary School in Elmira. Students are not required to transfer schools to attend this program. The first three weeks of the program students will receive safety training at these locations. Students will then be at the home build site for the remainder of the semester. Students will receive 4 co-operative education credits upon completion of the program.
Transportation will be provided for students wanting to participate in the program however, students may have to meet at selected locations.
