Preston H.S. Tech Classes Make Toys for Christmas
Students from Preston High School's technological education classes helped to spread holiday cheer this season by making toys for less fortunate children in the community. Grade 8 students from William G. Davis Public School were invited to assist with this project which was led by Dan Davison, Preston High School’s Technological Education Director.
Just like Santa’s elves these students worked in the carpentry shop making pull toys in the shapes of ducks, dinosaurs, whales and race cars. Students from Preston High worked the band saws while the grade eights assisted with drilling holes, sanding, installing wheels and applying an oil finish. The toys were later donated to Langs Farm.
This project was funded through the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program at the Waterloo Region District School Board. The purpose was not only to support a good cause, but also to expose youth to the importance of technological education in our community.
