Description of the Award
The Zonta International Young Women in Public Affairs Award Program was established to encourage secondary-school women, ages 16-19, to enter careers or seek leadership positions in social policy-making, government, and volunteer organizations. The program seeks to ultimately increase the number of women in decision-making positions in order to make a difference in the lives of women and men worldwide.

Zonta International is a worldwide service organization of executives in business and the professions working together to advance the status of women.

Each secondary school may nominate one student. One winner will be selected from the Waterloo Region who will receive a $1,000 award. Winners go on to compete in the Zonta District competition. The District winner will receive a scholarship of $5,000.
