Grand River Hospital

WCI Community Service Project

Grade 11 Marketing students from WCI donated 20 Build-A-Bears to children in the Pediatric ward at Grand River Hospital. The students collected money and took time to build and personalize each bear at the Build-A-Bear workshop. Each bear also included a calendar, birth certificate and a colouring book. The bears were delivered on June 11, when students spent time reading and playing games with the children. Extra bears were donated to the hospital for future patients.

Toy Drive at Lester B. Pearson PS

A toy drive was held at Lester B. Pearson P.S. Students and staff took into consideration that all children do not experience the holiday season at home and decided to give half of their toy donations to the children's wing at Grand River Hospital. The other half was given to the Waterloo Fire Department's annual holiday toy drive for needy children.

Seniors' Dinner at Preston HS

The 16th Annual Senior's Dinner was recently held at the Preston High School cafeteria. Two hundred students were matched with 200 seniors from six local seniors' residences. Twenty-five school staff, eight bus drivers and other volunteers helped make the full turkey dinner a success. The school also raised a total of $3,200 to buy toys from Canadian Tire to benefit the Cambridge and Grand River hospitals.
