Each year, Barrday, a Cambridge business, recognizes outstanding teachers in the City of Cambridge with ten $1000 Teacher of Excellence Awards.
WRDSB Students Winners in "Loving to Learn Day Contest"
Students from Elizabeth Ziegler PS, Forest Heights CI, Rosemount PS and Kitchener-Waterloo C&VS were winners in the University of Waterloo’s 2010 “Loving to Learn Day Contest”. Participants were asked to write about their most memorable mentor.

Cameron Heights Student is Best Debater in North America
Sarah Balakrishnan, a grade 12 student in the IB program at Cameron Heights, was named the 2009 North American Debating Champion. The debating championships, held in Winnipeg, brought together students from across Canada and the United States to participate. Congratulations to Sarah!
Partial French Immersion Registration
All parents/guardians of Senior Kindergarten children interested in Grade One Partial French Immersion starting in September 2010 must complete a registration form on the Waterloo Region District School Board web site.

Howard Robertson is excited to announce that they have been selected to be a part of the adopt-a-school program. The Chapters at Gateway Park selected the school to be a part of the program. The school plans on using the donations they receive to purchase books to enhance their in school and home reading programs and looks forward to the possibilities that the program will provide for families of the school by bringing reading into their homes.
Premier's Awards for Teaching Excellence Nominations
Nominations are now open for this year's Premier's Awards for Teaching Excellence.
The awards recognize outstanding school and school board staff who make exceptional contributions to Ontario schools and support, motivate and inspire Ontario students.
There are six award categories that recognize individuals who make a difference in education:

Waterloo Region Students Have a Chance to Earn University-Level Credit
Waterloo Region District School Board Students with a keen interest in the environment and geoscience will benefit from a new agreement between the University of Waterloo and the Waterloo Region District School Board.

The top senior level German students at Bluevale placed first overall at the WLU Senior Level german Contest. The top four seniors from each high school in the region participated. Bluevale's team of Curtis Girvin, Brandon Strnad, Hannah Schmidt and Andrea Mendler will be recognized and rewarded for their achievements by the German Businessmen's Association at the Wilfrid Bitzer Awards, this coming October at the Alpine Club.
J.W. Gerth Memorial Award Presented
Former WODSS student, Vanessa Erb was presented with the J.W. Gerth Memorial Award. The award is given out each year to a graduate of the Wilfrid Laurier University Faculty of Education, to support a student entering the education sector who demonstrates commitment and leadership to meet the needs of students and promote public education with the spirit that honours Bill Gerth's legacy. The award was presented by Vicki Gerth, Bill's wife.
