Preston High School (PHS) celebrated its 26th year of hosting their annual Senior Christmas Dinner!

This wonderful evening is a proud tradition at PHS and provides an opportunity for their students to make connections with seniors in the Preston community. More than 160 seniors from Fairview Mennonite Home, Golden Years Nursing Home, Cambridge Country Manor, Riverbend Place, Saint Luke’s Place, and St. Peter’s Place were treated to a traditional turkey dinner, accompanied by all the delicious fixings and cake for dessert. In addition to the guests, 160 student and 30 staff volunteers helped make the evening so incredible.

Every year, students are paired up with a senior to help serve them dinner, sit and talk to them, and give them a warm memory to look back on during the holiday season. For many of the seniors, this may be a difficult time of year, so it’s great that they can participate in an evening full of fun, laughter and great food!

At the end of the meal, everyone was able to enjoy the musical performances, caroling, and a visit from Santa.

A special THANK YOU to Sara Bauer for organizing and running this wonderful, and to all the volunteers who cooked, cleaned, served, etc. – without your help, this annual event wouldn’t be as special as it is! PHS would also like to express their sincerest appreciation to Sharp Bus Lines Ltd. for transporting the seniors – it is truly incredible to have such amazing community support. And last, but certainly not least, thank you to Lyndsay Morrison, from CTV Kitchener, for attending the event and doing a live-to-air feature to share this heart-warming event to our greater community!

Well done, Panthers, for giving back and sharing in the spirit of the holiday season.
