For three weeks, Howard Robertson Public School participated in the annual Indigo Love of Reading Foundation Adopt-a-School initiative. The annual campaign gives schools a chance to win up to $10,000 in Indigo Gift Cards to purchase books for their library, with additional ways to raise more money for even more library books.

Howard Robertson PS rallied its school community and the greater Waterloo Region to support their effort. In order to qualify for any of the prize money, the school needed to raise enough online votes to place in the Top 3 in Ontario. They accepted the challenge and went right to work! They set up voting stations at sporting events, generated conversation through Twitter, and updated their subscriber base through website posts – just to name a few things! In the end, it paid off.

After weeks of pledge and book donations, and vote collecting, Howard Robertson PS received a cheque for $16,500.00 from the Indigo – Love of Reading Foundation. The school will now be able to purchase books and resources to update their library! They placed third in the province and collected more than 10,000 votes – congratulations!

On behalf of Howard Robertson PS, a big thank you to the school community for all your hard work and support, and to Mr. V., Ms. Clairmont and Mrs. Watt for everything you did to coordinate this great opportunity!

Way to go, Hawks!
