During the last few weeks of school, Floradale Public School students collected milk bags to help with a global initiative.

The common household bags will be given to local retirees in the Floradale community and be woven into mattresses. From there, local charities will send the milk bag mattresses to third world countries – Haiti, among others – where the need for hospital and sleeping beds is crucial. But before the milk bags were sent off, a few community members visited Floradale PS and did a demo; all of their Grade 7 and 8 students got to be involved in making mattresses.

This is an activity anybody, with access to milk bags, can do, and would make a big impact in areas that need mattresses most.

Way to go, Falcons!
