The students and staff at Ryerson Public School had the privilege of meeting Canadian astronaut-in-waiting, Jeremy Hansen.
Wearing his blue flight suit, Hansen shared stories about his journey, from growing up on a farm outside of London, to working with the Canadian Space Agency and the other astronauts in Houston, Texas. He told the students about his dream to eventually fly into space and work on the International Space Station. At the end, students had the opportunity to ask him questions, ranging from, “What does it feels like to be weightless?” to, “How do toilets work in space?”
Hansen’s talk was extremely interesting, and incredibly inspirational. He encouraged students to dream big and to believe in themselves. Hansen suggested that someday, one of Ryerson’s own students might walk on Mars, and each one was challenged to work hard and reach for the stars.
