At Lester B. Pearson Public School, they believe each and every student has the ability to make a positive difference in the world. This difference can start simply with an encouraging word or an act of kindness. Once it starts, students have the power to grow their actions to achieve greater impact. Lester B. Pearson PS encourages their students to always do their best in making a difference in the world through their choice of words and actions – both individually and collectively. During their 4th annual Week of Giving, they continued working to create a positive change in the community.

This year, the school focused their efforts on collecting non-perishable food items to support The Food Bank of Waterloo Region. It has been an especially harsh winter for many families across the region, and the food bank provides food assistance so parents, senior citizens, and individuals do not have to choose between paying their heating bill or buying groceries. Each week, the local food bank provides emergency food to approximately 36,000 meals.

Together, the Lester B. Pearson PS school community collected 1,818lbs of food and $756.45 – bringing the grand total to 4,693 meals!
