According to the Chinese calendar, this is the Year of the Goat, and the students from Edna Staebler Public School earned the privilege of seeing their principal kiss a goat.

How you might ask? Well, their Me to We student group spoke to the school about poverty levels around the world, raising awareness for the need of assistance. Through their presentation, morning announcements, posters, school website posts, and letters, the group was able to get the school excited about their fundraising goal: to raise enough money to buy one goat per class for the Free the Children We Create Change campaign. The school was abuzz! Not only were Edna Staebler PS students helping to make a difference in communities outside Canada, their reward was to see the head of their school do something embarrassing.

They raised enough money to purchase 38 goats for families in developing countries. A goat can develop into a herd of goats, which can provide milk and sustainable income to a family. To celebrate surpassing their goal, Mr. Parliament kissed a pair of local goats at their March Caring Assembly!
