Starting today, students at Northlake Woods Public School are engaging in 15 days of reading in an effort to raise funds to support our woodlot revitalization project. Students will be gathering sponsors for their 2014 Read-A-Thon goals.

“Put The WOODS back into Northlake Woods Public School” is an initiative that students, staff and parents are getting involved with to improve the condition of the school’s woodlot and to create an outdoor learning space for everyone to enjoy. The plans include an upgrade of the woodlot paths, create an outdoor learning classroom space, and build a Cob Shed for outdoor learning materials.

Students will take part in a variety of activities during their 15 days of reading – they’ll track their reading in order to reach individual reading targets, enjoy a visit from author Helaine Becker and illustrator Chuck Temple, participate in a book talk with a representative from the Waterloo Public Library and take a whole school trip to the St. Jacobs Country Playhouse theatre to see a production of Snow White.

Good luck Timber Wolves!
