The horticulture class at Kitchener-Waterloo Collegiate & Vocational School (KCI) received a $500 cheque from the Canadian Wildlife Federation (CFW) as part of their Habitat 2020 school program. The program helps reward schools (or classrooms) across the country that make an important contribution to wildlife in Canada.

The money will help carry on the restoration efforts that the horticulture class is doing with their sports field. They will be adding native shrubs to the north end of the field, which will help restore the habitat and attract native wildlife back to Kitchener’s city centre.

The cheque was presented to the class and their teacher, Pat Rittinger, by CFW and Canada’s favourite gardener, Ken Beattie.
