Celebrating Board Activities
Paul Fisher, VP and General Manager of Bell Media Radio, presented Director John Bryant with a cheque for $30,682. This donation helps fund music programs in our secondary schools, and is split evenly between all of our secondary schools. Schools have used this money in past years to purchase sheet music, new music folders, as well as instruments. We are very grateful of the donation from Bell Media.

Trustees approved the revisions to the following policies:
- Board Policy 1002 – Occupational Health and Safety
- Board Policy 1004 – Harassment
- Board Policy 1006 – Anaphylaxis Management
- Board Policy 1009 – Violence in the Workplace
- Board Policy 3001 – Travel, Meals, Hospitality Expenditures – Trustees
- Board Policy 4012 – School Attendance Areas
- Board Policy 5009 – Travel, Meals, Hospitality Expenditures – Staff
Reports
Appointment of Student Trustees 2014-2015
Current student trustees Aarom Shantz and Jen Duimering introduced the new student trustees, Hayley Briss from WCI, and Mark Clubine from KCI. Both Hayley and Mark are in grade 12, and we look forward to working with them next year!
Director Bryant and Chair Martin presented outgoing student trustees Aaron and Jen with a plaque, and thanked them for their contribution to the board table, and for representing their students. Both Aaron and Jen are off to University of Waterloo this fall, and we wish them all the best!

OPSBA Membership & Policy 3007 Approval
Information provided by the services provided by the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association (OPSBA) include: labour relations, lobbying, media relations, and professional development. More information on OPSBA and the services they provide to school boards can be found online at opsba.org
Trustees approved the following recommendation:
That the Waterloo Region District School Board approve Board Policy 3007, and continue with membership in the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association for 2014-2015.
Major Capital Projects – Quarterly Update Report
There are currently nine capital projects currently underway in the WRDSB, including five new elementary schools. More information on these projects can be found in the report.
2014-2015 Budget Discussion
Trustees continued to hear from staff regarding the proposed 2014-15 budget. The budget was presented to trustees on Monday, June 9 for the first time. The budget must be approved, and submitted to the Ministry of Education by June 27, 2014
