Between March-June 2013, the Waterloo Region District School Board, as directed by the Board of Trustees began a review of Stakeholder Engagement. It is a strategic priority for the WRDSB to ensure internal and external engagement is strong in order to support student success and achievement for our learners.

Feedback was obtained through a variety of meetings, surveys and focus groups. This feedback is very important in guiding the future work of the WRDSB. The WRDSB would like to thank all of the participants who took the time to provide feedback on this important project. The outcome of this work has resulted in a series of recommendations that the WRDSB has begun to implement.

The WRDSB is presently immersed in the work of:

  • The Development of a common framework for communications and engagement that aligns with the WRDSB Strategic Plan and Board Improvement Plan
  • Building an Engagement/Communications team that leads this plan and provides support and resources to support implementation

The Engagement/Communications team will be led by Marty Deacon, (Executive Officer, Engagement and Communications) and will be housed in the Director’s Office. The Director, Mr. John Bryant will work with this team to ensure all levels of the organization and community are valued and feel connected to student learning and success.

Communication is essential for a sound engagement strategy. An update on work of the Engagement/Communications team will be shared prior to June 30, 2014.
